The Charger Horse sculpture by Robert Shure at the University of New Haven in West Haven.Arnold Gold/Hearst Connecticut MediaWEST HAVEN — The University of New Haven received a roughly $74,000 grant from the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority to support its dental hygiene clinic.The university announced the grant, which will support the purchase of new equipment including an instrument sterilizer, an oral cancer detection system and intraoral cameras. Marie Paulis, director of the university's Dental Hygiene Program, said the money will fund both some equipment replacement as well as "additions that would assist to update the clinic and enable the students and faculty to provide more efficient and exacting clinical care that is supported by current best practices.
